Tell us about your transition from corporate to real estate. Why did you make the change?

I have always had a passion for property. When the opportunity came about it was just the right time and place. When moving to Ballito I really wanted to get my hands on a local business and Pam Golding Properties just seemed right.

What have you learnt in the year that you have run the Ballito agency?

I have learnt that being a real estate agent is far from just taking a potential buyer to a property, showing them around and signing an agreement. It must be one of the most challenging careers and of course the most rewarding.

What do you think the role is, of Pam Golding in Ballito?

I believe the role of Pam Golding Ballito is to bring people from around South Africa and Internationally to Ballito and to get them to call it home.

How do you find it works as a family business?

People say never mix family and business but I firmly believe that the two have great synergies as family always look out for each other and that is what business owners want, their partners looking out for each other.

Tell us about the Ballito property market. Why is it growing at such a rapid rate?

Ballito is the place to be. The market is continuing its growth patterns and I firmly believe that this trend will continue for the next couple of years. With the number of beautiful estates on our doorstep and the beaches that we have stock is short and demand is just increasing, makes for a successful formula.

I have a fantastic team at Pam Golding. When I took over the business in September 2013 I retained all members of the team. I have the most loyal people and couldn’t ask for more. I am not one who believes in staff turnover, I believe in building relationships with my team and generating engaged people because I believe that engaged employees are likely to outperform non engaged employees by a long way. I value the team I have.
